FIGHT COMPLACENCY

This workshop is all about what we can do to stop complacency and motivate ourselves whilst working. It's all about trying something different to throw yourself out of your comfort zone in order to advance in your art. It's a good way to loosen yourself up in life too!
It does not matter if you have not painted before, since you were a child or are an expert, all are welcome.
The day will include exercises like distorting the true perspective of a subject and painting with your left hand!
It will be fun!
Price £50 each for the day.
This will include acrylic paints and a blank stretched canvas. You will need to bring your own reference materials and packed lunches. I only have a limited number of table easles, so if you have your own please do bring it with you.

SPEED PAINTING WORKSHOP
August 26th 2012, Town Mill Community Rooms, LYME REGIS
This workshop challenges the artist to find a fresh new and free look in just one sitting. It is also a great way to train yourself to avoid overworking a composition and know when you are happy with a painting, and when to stop - a very important lesson!
Once again it does not matter if you have not painted before, since you were a child or are an expert. The aim of this day is to limit the time you spend on actual brushwork and allow your work to remain loose and fresh ... and of course to have fun!
You will select several realistic subjects from photos that you have taken or from magazines throughout the day. We will spend a little time working through the process of deciding what you want to say and how you’re going to say it, planning the composition, selecting dominant design elements, drawing it, and working out the color scheme in your heads ... and then you will paint ... and have a time limit to do it in!
We will do this several time throughout the day so that you get really good at it! It will be fun, and you will go home with a collection of wonderful creations to feel elated by!
Price £50 each for the day.

You will need to bring your own paper pads to use for the first few goes, reference materials and packed lunches. I only have a limited number of table easles, so if you have your own please do bring it with you.

LET GO WITH YOUR IMAGINATION

This workshop is all about really letting go by bringing imagination and invention into the painting process.
It does not matter if you have not painted before, since you were a child or are an expert. The aim of this day is to allow your memory and imagination to tell you what to do while you work ... and to have fun!
I will ask you to select a realistic subject from a photo that you have taken or from magazine before you come on the workshop. We will spend a little time working through the process of deciding what you want to say and how you’re going to say it. Then you will spend some time planning the composition, selecting dominant design elements, drawing it, and working out the color scheme.
After you have done this you will then spend the rest of the day painting the artwork from memory. All your source materials, sketches and plans will have been put away out of sight - it will be fun!
